Another 235 teachers completed training under the Safety in Shelters programme. Over 500 education workers from the Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Poltava and Zaporizhzhia regions completed the programme this year!

The program consists of 3 modules:

First, pre-medical training!

Certified instructors in tactical medicine and pre-medical first aid from the Ukrainian School of Rescue and Folk High School "Vovchok" provided thorough training to our teaching staff in the application of tourniquets and bandages, and in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, so that they can perform these skills automatically if necessary.

The second module covered the fundamentals of civil protection, including its principles, structure, and responsibilities. They carefully considered the actions of a teacher during an air raid siren. They considered the requirements for creating and operating shelters.

They also discussed the school emergency kit essentials.

Svitlana Kalashchenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Emergency Medicine and Tactical Medicine at Bogomolets National Medical University, explained all these important aspects to our educators in an accessible and professional  manner.

The third module of this large-scale training programme was titled "The educational process under martial law: support strategies".

Together with Tetiana Kostenko, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, senior researcher and psychologist, the participants discussed the characteristics of stress and psychological trauma in children, how to respond to them and how to ensure a safe environment for students.

After 16 intense hours covering complex but important issues and essential skills, our teachers have now received certificates of professional development.
