How the Halych territorial community and its “neighbours” found a solution for the development of an inclusive resource centre?
Six years ago, this Inclusive Resource Centre (IRC) in the town of Halych, Ivano-Frankivsk region, provided services to children with special educational needs from across the district. But after administrative reform and the formation of new territorial communities, it continued supporting children and teenagers requiring special attention from four neighbouring communities.
Experts from the DECIDE project helped the communities formalise an inter-municipal cooperation agreement, calculate the necessary costs and prepare a document ensuring sustainable funding.
This not only guaranteed stable financial support but also simplified administrative procedures. Now, funds for the IRC are allocated in advance in the community budget, which greatly facilitates the work of the centre’s specialists and improves access to services for children and adolescents.
Moreover — the communities received a mini-grant from DECIDE, which helped them create an outdoor learning space for the centre.
