On 10-11 February, DECIDE Project, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, held a final workshop entitled ‘Implementation of Specialised Secondary Education Reform: Regional Policy’ for heads of regional departments and administrations of education and science from 20 regions in Lviv!
The key speakers were:
Nadiia Kuzmychova, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine;
Dmytro Zavhorodnii, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalisation;
Valentyna Poltorak, DECIDE Project Manager;
Serhii Yatskovskyi, DECIDE National Expert;
Andrii Matsokin, DECIDE National Expert;
Mariia Drobot (Michshenkova), DECIDE Coordinator of Strategic Planning for Regional Development in Education, Educational Statistics and Analytics;
Anna Morenko, Coordinator of the Educational Environment Division of the NUS Implementation Office;
Nadiia Balabust, DECIDE National Expert – Coordinator of Career Guidance System Development.
During the workshop, the following topics were discussed:
implementation of specialised secondary education reform and formation of a network of academic lyceums;
regulatory and legal support for the creation and operation of academic lyceums;
mechanisms for the use of subsidies in educational sector;
tools for modelling a capable network of educational institutions, taking into account demographic indicators, territorial accessibility, and infrastructure resources;
approaches to ensuring a real choice of academic profiles and subjects in academic lyceums;
features of the implementation of the new Law of Ukraine ‘On Vocational Education’;
the concept of career guidance hubs of the DECIDE Project.
In addition, the participants visited the Taras Horodetskyi Academic Lyceum of the Sheptytskyi City Council, as well as the Sheptytskyi Professional College of Technology and Design, the Sheptytskyi Professional Mining and Construction Lyceum, DECIDE culinary hub at the Sokalskyi Professional Lyceum, and our career guidance hub at the Interregional Higher Professional School of Automotive Transport and Construction.
Work is ongoing in Ukraine to establish a network of specialised senior schools! We are doing our utmost to ensure that academic lyceums are established in all Ukrainian communities!
