Legislative Agenda for the Reform of Specialized Secondary Education discussion was held in Kyiv with the support of DECIDE Project

What legislative changes are needed for specialized secondary education? On May 24, 2024, government officials, people’s deputies, heads of regional administrations and regional councils joined the discussion of this issue. The event was held at the communication platform of the Office of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine with the assistance and support of the Swiss-Ukrainian Project DECIDE.

For the network of academic and vocational lyceums to work as planned in September 2027 and be really effective, the legislation needs to be amended. Another proposed change is the regulation of interbudgetary transfers for co-funding of educational institution by several communities.

Andreas Huber, director of the Cooperation Program at the Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine, assured that Switzerland understands the importance of education reform for Ukraine even during wartime, because this reform is about the future.

«The reform of specialized secondary education will help improve the quality of education for children from both large cities and the smallest communities. Reforming and modernizing education, closer connection with the real economy are important prerequisites that will motivate young people to live and study in Ukraine».
