A modern career guidance hub has been opened at Vocational College No. 7 in Kremenchuk in Poltava region.
The hub was created within the framework of the Swiss-Ukrainian DECIDE Project in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Poltava Regional State Administration, and Vocational College No. 7 in Kremenchuk.
DECIDE career guidance hub in Kremenchuk offers opportunities to students from the city and the region. Here, young people can find out about modern professions and gain their first practical experience. It is a place where interests turn into choices, and choices turn into the future.
Within the project, 300 m² of space was renovated. To ensure accessibility for all, a stairlift was installed for wheelchair users. Modern interactive equipment and furniture were also purchased.
The hub comprises eight practical stations: robotics, 3D printing, electrical engineering, machine tools and lathes, construction, welding and plastic processing, as well as a training area. Teenagers can work with real equipment in each of them, get a feel for what it is like to be a specialist in the field, and discover which profession truly excites and inspires them.
‘This hub is equipped with modern technology and equipment to help students gain practical insight into future career paths. DECIDE career guidance hubs bring together education, business and the community, enabling young people to choose a career path within their community or region. As well as setting up the hub and collaborating with Vocational College No. 7, we work with the local council. The community has a career coordinator who liaises with schools, as well as career advisors who teach the JOBs career guidance course. More than 100 pupils in grades 8–9 took this course and participated in excursions where they met representatives of businesses and vocational education institutions,’ emphasised Valentyna Poltorak, Swiss-Ukrainian DECIDE Project Manager.
The total budget for the project was approximately UAH 5.3 million. Of this, nearly UAH 4.1 million was financed by the DECIDE project, UAH 1.1 million was co-financed by the Poltava Regional Military Administration and UAH 110,000 came from the college’s special fund.
The following companies have already become residents of the hub: PJSC Kryukiv Railway Car Building Works, PP Kreminbud, PP LUKAS, PJSC Kremenchug City Milk Plant, Alfatex LLC, BPK Gazinvestproekt LLC, D Light LLC, Zavod Storozhuk LLC, Inter-Lis Company LLC, NVP Energo-Plus LLC, and Warehouse Modernisation Systems LLC. We expect this list to grow in the future so that as many children and adolescents as possible have the opportunity to make the right choice for their future profession!
Currently, ten career guidance hubs are operating in Ukraine in six regions: Kyiv, Lviv, Chernihiv, Poltava, Odesa, and Ivano-Frankivsk.
The DECIDE project is implemented by NGO DOCCU and PHZH International Projects in Education with the support of the Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine.
