Kyiv region: Representatives of the Swiss Embassy visit culinary career guidance hub in Vasylkiv

At the end of April, representatives from the Swiss Embassy visited the culinary career guidance hub created at the Vocational College in Vasylkiv within the framework of the Swiss-Ukrainian DECIDE Project.
The event was attended by 39 people: a delegation from the Swiss Embassy, DECIDE Project team, team from Vasylkiv Vocational College, college students, and pupils of Grade 8 from Vasylkiv Gymnasium No. 7.
During the visit, the participants learned about the work of the culinary career guidance hub, where students can discover the culinary professions through practical experience, including masterclasses and career guidance activities.
The delegation visited the training workshops and culinary laboratories and observed a career guidance event in action: gymnasium students, together with college students and teachers, took part in practical culinary activities.
Together with DECIDE, the college is developing its cooperation with businesses.
The residents of the hub and partners of the college today include SILPO-FOOD LLC, Kyiv BKK LLC, NOVUS and AUCHAN, which are involved in career guidance for students and teenagers and support for vocational education, in particular by regularly hosting masterclasses and excursions.
The hub also serves as a centre for the professional training of school chefs within the framework of a partnership with communities to implement school nutrition reform.
Liudmyla Postolenko, Director of the College, presented the operating model of the hub and described:
cooperation with general secondary education institutions;
student engagement in career guidance activities;
the work of students and vocational training instructors as mentors;
outcomes of the hub’s activities and trends in student enrolment at the college upon participation in the activities.
Efforts to develop the hub and the college are underway!
