On 17 January, a public discussion on the reform of specialised upper secondary education took place in Cherkasy.
Cherkasy region has already established a prospective network consisting of 81 academic lyceums across 66 territorial communities. However, demographic trends indicate that in some communities, the number of students may be insufficient to implement profile-based education in upper secondary school. This, in turn, could pose challenges to ensuring the quality of the educational process and may require further adjustments of the network.
Following the discussion, 43% of respondents stated that the rules for implementing the reform had become clearer. Meanwhile, 62% of participants expressed their readiness to establish an academic lyceum, while 12% were willing to do so in cooperation with other communities.
Work continues in Cherkasy region to refine the lyceum network, taking into account the number of students, geographical features, and resource availability. Public discussions have played a key role in engaging stakeholders and shaping a shared vision for the reform.
