This year, 66 communities took part in the traditional competition by submitting 260 applications that showcased their best practices, successful initiatives, effective solutions, and projects.
The winner of the ‘Successful Together-2025’ competition in the education sector is Velykokuchurivska community in Chernivtsi region.
Special awards from the Swiss-Ukrainian DECIDE Project in the ‘Leader in Education’ category were given to:
Tereshkivska community (Poltava region)
Oknianska community (Odesa region)
‘For almost six years now, with the reliable support of Switzerland, we have been working with communities to develop education management despite all the challenges! Our second five-year phase will extend our support to 9 regions and 40 partner communities, helping them to implement reforms not just on paper, but in real communities, close to people and children. At the national level, our programme advisory teams continue to work, supporting more than 1,100 communities today. We are assisting with the planning and implementation of specialised senior secondary school reform, including developing a network of academic lyceums, implementing vocational education reform, creating a career guidance system for children and adolescents in Ukraine, and related reforms. We continue to develop local statistics and analytics in the education sector, promote the de-bureaucratisation and democratisation of educational management, strengthen analytical capacity, and help the Government and communities to plan for the future of education strategically, using data, dialogue and joint action. We believe in the power of local self-government, and despite the war, we recognise that it is at this level that decisions are made that transform education across the country,’ said Valentyna Poltorak, Swiss-Ukrainian DECIDE Project Manager.
‘For many communities, the “Successful Together” competition provides an opportunity to share their achievements and best practices. We have seen solutions that can be scaled up not only within the region, but also nationally. This is why the competition is so important, particularly given the current circumstances,’ emphasised Oleksandr Korinnyi, Chairman of the Association.
The ‘Successful Together’ competition was launched to recognise the best community initiatives, share successful practices and inspire the search for new solutions.
The DECIDE project is implemented by NGO DOCCU and PHZH International Projects in Education with the support of the Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine.
