A new career guidance hub has been launched at the Chernihiv Professional Lyceum of Railway Transport. Everything here is designed to allow 8th and 9th graders to experience different professions first-hand.
The hub features 8 themed stations:
– an art studio introduces students to decorative work and the professions of painter and plasterer;
– VR glasses — an opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of railway workers and equipment maintenance mechanics;
– a robotics station, where students can explore the work of rolling stock repair mechanics and alarm electricians;
– a landscaping station, where students can explore professions in gardening and landscaping;
– electricians' station — an introduction to the work of lighting and lighting network electricians;
– plumbing station — an opportunity to practise basic plumbing skills;
– modelling station — working with 3D design and equipment for cutting wood and plywood;
– 'Iron Men' station — an introduction to the field of railway transport and related professions.

We are pleased to share the results of our DECIDE: VET initiative:
– the pilot covered six regions of Ukraine: Kyiv, Chernihiv, Poltava, Odesa, Ivano-Frankivsk and Lviv. 6 career guidance coordinators are collaborating with partner regional military administrations to foster cooperation between education and business;
– we selected 10 pilot vocational education institutions with partner regions and developed strategies for their development and career guidance hubs aimed at students in grades 5 to 9;
– 110 businesses have become residents of the career guidance hubs and are organising excursions and masterclasses for schoolchildren;
– 9 partner communities have involved 22 schools in the pilot project;
– 9 coordinators are responsible for career guidance in partner communities;
– over 40 career advisors from partner community schools have completed the JOBs course at the Zurich University of Teacher Education. They have been piloting a new career guidance system with us for a year and implementing the JOBs program;
– in the 2024/25 academic year, 898 students in grades 8–9 studied the JOBs course and participated in excursions and masterclasses organised by businesses;
– 14,500 students have tried their hand at various professions at enterprises organised by community career coordinators.
