On February 6-7, representatives of the Swiss Embassy in Ukraine and the DECIDE project team conducted a working visit to Poltava Region.
The purpose of the visit was not only to familiarize themselves the implementation of the project in the region but also to share achievements and best practices in fostering educational development in partner communities and at the regional level.
The embassy delegation, led by Simon Troller, Deputy Head of the Development Program in Ukraine, and Ilona Postemska, Senior Program Specialist, together with the DECIDE team, met with representatives of the Reshetylivka Community. Discussions focused on the development of the community’s overall strategy, particularly in the field of education, as well as key priorities and educational needs. The delegation visited schools where the initiative "Public Budget for Children's Dreams" (School Participatory Budgeting - SPB) has been successfully implemented. Thanks to this initiative, students now have lounge areas, a modern STEM laboratory, and a sports club. These new educational spaces have already become hubs for thematic events, competitions, and research activities.
They also visited a lyceum where, as part of the initiative "DECIDE: VET," a career guidance centre is being established, and training workshops are being modernized. This is a significant step in preparing highly qualified specialists in agricultural engineering, culinary arts, welding technologies, and other fields.
Additionally, the delegation visited a school where the initiative "DECIDE: Reconstruction" has been implemented. A modern shelter has been created, serving not only as a protective space but also as an educational facility. Plans include launching a VR space within the shelter to integrate innovative technologies into the learning process for younger students.
