A week of sharing experiences and jointly seeking solutions for educational reforms: from the development of vocational education and a modern career guidance system for children and adolescents, with a focus on blue-collar professions, to the introduction of dual training as an effective approach to training in-demand specialists.

Organised by a team from the Zurich University of Teacher Education, the visit aimed to facilitate the exchange of best practices on the implementation of career guidance system and the sharing of expertise between Moldova and Ukraine. The focus was also on developing cooperation between the two countries in the context of European integration.

During the introductory session, the participants learned about the experience of implementing the JOBS Moldova Project.

The programme of the visit included:

  • visits to vocational and technical colleges in Chisinau and an introduction to the dual education system;

  • exchange of experience with teaching staff on the introduction of career guidance into the educational process;

  • a visit to a school in Orhei, including a career guidance lesson and a discussion of management practices;

  • a visit to Moldova State University and an opportunity to learn about teacher training and professional development;

  • a bilateral dialogue with representatives of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research of the Republic of Moldova, joined by Minister of Education Dan Perciun and his team.

During the study visit, the participants visited Vocational School No. 7, Chisinau municipality, the ‘Ion Luca Caragiale’ Theoretical High School in Orhei, and Moldova State University, where they learned about the practical implementation of career guidance, dual education, and teacher training.

The visit was the first step towards strengthening cooperation in the field of education between Ukraine and Moldova in the context of European integration processes and human capital development.

During the visit, the delegation was introduced to the dual education system in the country and approaches to developing the sector through state grants and subsidies to employers to cover the wages of students studying under this system.

Participation in the training contributes to strengthening international partnerships, developing the vocational education and career guidance system, and shaping a shared vision for the future of education in both countries.

We are grateful to the Swiss Embassy in Ukraine and Embassy of Moldova in Ukraine, the Swiss Cooperation Office and Ministerul Educației și Cercetării al Republicii Moldova for their assistance in organising this visit!

The DECIDE project is implemented by NGO DOCCU and PHZH International Projects in Education with the support of the Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine.
