Last year, we reported on the opening of ten DECIDE culinary and career guidance hubs in Ukraine. These spaces were created within the framework of the Swiss-Ukrainian DECIDE Project, which is implemented by the NGO DOCCU.
To ensure their operation is even more productive and effective, we are training the professionals who work directly in these spaces.
Last week, we brought together 10 career guidance hub coordinators in Lviv for a two-day training course entitled ‘Career Guidance Hub: Practical Solutions for Coordinators’.
In particular, Valentyna Poltorak, DECIDE Project Manager, described the formation of an effective career guidance system for children and adolescents as a joint effort between education, local authorities, and businesses.
Nadiia Balabust, DECIDE Project National Expert, spoke about the role of career guidance hubs in the national piloting of the career guidance system for children and adolescents.
Kateryna Nemyrovska, Head of DECIDE Project Expert Group on the Development of Career Guidance Hubs in Cooperation with Business, emphasised the role of career guidance hubs as a space for young people to learn about different professions.
The participants of the training also took part in a tour of the DECIDE career guidance hub, located on the premises of the State Vocational and Technical Educational Institution ‘Interregional Higher Vocational School of Automotive Transport and Construction’ in Lviv.
The participants also learned:
how to cooperate with businesses as a basis for career guidance activities;
how to ensure the effective operation of the hub;
project activities;
practical communication tools;
and shared their experiences with each other.
The participants immediately put their newly acquired knowledge into practice and presented it, receiving feedback from the trainers at each stage.
The participants themselves summarised the two-day training as follows:
‘This training is like GPT chat in real life! We were given concise, compact information that we don’t need to search for, just use’;
‘The training was amazing and informative, and there was communication with all the participants’;
‘The greatest value of the training is in the exchange of experience, ideas, and learning something new. For example, the topic of project writing is completely new to me. Now I understand how it works and how to use the knowledge I have gained’;
‘During the training, we learned how to take photos and videos correctly, how to design projects correctly, and what to pay attention to.’
Upon completion of the training, the hub coordinators were awarded certificates.
The DECIDE project is implemented by NGO DOCCU and PHZH International Projects in Education with the support of the Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine.
