Being not only a teacher, but also, if necessary, a psychologist or even a rescuer. Such are the realities of the education process in Ukraine today.

As part of the Long-Term Sustainability Programme implemented by the DOCCU NGO, the training of teaching staff in educational institutions on ‘Safety in Shelters’ has begun, namely training courses on providing first aid to children and adolescents.

More than 200 educators from Dnipropetrovsk region (Solonyanska territorial community and Novooleksandrivska territorial community) and another 60 from Odesa region (Bessarabska territorial community) have already completed the training.

During the 8-hour group sessions, participants covered:

- Legal aspects of providing pre-medical care;

- Identification and provision of assistance in cases of critical bleeding;

- Opening the airways, breathing checks, checking the oral cavity;

- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation for adults/adolescents and children;

- Identification and assistance in cases of pneumothorax;

- Other injuries and emergencies (anaphylactic shock, head and eye injuries, hypothermia and hyperthermia, burns, electric shock, and examination of children in civilian settings).

We would like to remind you that the ‘Long-Term Sustainability Programme’ project is being implemented by the DOCCU NGO with financial support from Education Cannot Wait in cooperation with the international non-governmental organisation Finn Church Aid Ukraine.
